February 21st, 2007
The United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana is pleased to announce that Keith L. "Kip" Shuford has been named development officer.
Kip will work from Baton Rouge, further developing relationships with United Methodist churches and individuals in the southern region of the state.
Kip has a deep-rooted history of Methodist involvement and experiences. He is a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge, where he has served as chairman of the Administrative Board, the Council on Ministries and many committees. He was a pilgrim of Emmaus Walk #9 and has served as a Stephen Minister. Kip presently enjoys teaching tenth grade Sunday school, and has taught at various age levels from the seventh grade to the 80-year-olds in the last fifteen years. He also serves in First Church's Mentor Program.
"We are so pleased to have Kip on board," said Rob Fairly, president of the foundation. "He brings a broad base of business experience and a strong Methodist heritage to the job."
Kip's business career began after graduating in 1975 with a B.S. from LSU. He has served as vice president of Capital Bank and administrative director of the Baton Rouge General Hospital, and for the last fifteen years was employed by the Louisiana Lottery Corporation as senior vice president.
Kip has served on the board of the American Heart Association and Junior Achievement and as chairman of the Southern University Athletic Association.
He is a member of the National Committee on Planned Giving and the Planned Giving Council of Greater Baton Rouge. He and his wife of 25 years, Sandra, have one daughter who will graduate from Episcopal High School this May.
Kip's first order of business as development officer will be to travel around the state meeting pastors and familiarizing them with the various services the foundation offers.
The United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana was founded in 1975 and serves United Methodist churches, institutions and individuals within the Louisiana Annual Conference, providing financial management, consultation and education, loans and grants. It is one of the largest United Methodist Foundations, in the denomination.
