Jan Holloway and Rob Fairly at the 2010 Annual Meeting

Rev. Holloway Elected New Chairman

Reverend Jan Holloway was elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana on April 27 at the organization’s annual meeting in Baton Rouge.

Rev. Holloway is senior pastor at First United Methodist Church in Lafayette, where she has served since 2006. She graduated from Southern Methodist University Perkins School of Theology in 2000 and served as an associate pastor at First UMC Baton Rouge. Prior to her spiritual calling, Rev. Holloway was an attorney in Alexandria. She has been a member of the Foundation board since 2006.

Rev. Holloway succeeds Mark McMurry of Sulphur who has served a two-year term as Chairman. McMurry will continue serving on the Executive Committee as Immediate Past President, as well as Rev. Joseph Awotwi, Newman UMC, Alexandria; Omer Davis, First UMC, Baton Rouge; Lee Hampton, St. Mark UMC, Opelousas; and Rev. Doug deGraffenried, St. Timothy on the North Shore UMC, Mandeville.

New board members elected at the meeting were Frank Harrison, Asbury UMC, Lafayette; Mae Calvin Belton, First UMC, Baton Rouge; Bill Potter, First UMC, Baton Rouge, and Rev. Larry Stafford of First UMC, Monroe. Once approved at the Louisiana Annual Conference in June, these members and Rev. Holloway will begin their two-year terms.

Outgoing board members include: Frank McArthur, Broadmoor UMC, Baton Rouge; Dick Boisture, Jennings UMC; and Rev. Don Avery, First UMC, Natchitoches.

Located in Baton Rouge, the United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana was founded in 1975 and serves United Methodist churches, institutions and individuals within the Louisiana Annual Conference, providing financial guidance and education, loans and grants. It is one of the largest United Methodist Foundations in the denomination.
